NDLEA Arrests Two Europe-Bound Nigerians with 200 Cocaine Wraps at Abuja Airport

The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has arrested two Nigerians living in Europe after they allegedly swallowed 200 wraps of cocaine weighing 3.46 kilogrammes while attempting to travel from Abuja to Paris, France.

The suspects, identified as Aliocus Godian Odife and Sam Blackborn, were arrested on Wednesday, October 28, 2026, during the outward clearance of an Air France flight at the Nnamdi Azikiwe International Airport, Abuja.

How the Suspects Were Arrested

According to the NDLEA spokesperson, Femi Babafemi, body scans conducted on the two men confirmed the presence of foreign objects in their stomachs.

Odife, who reportedly lives in France and works in a factory, had returned to Nigeria for a short holiday on October 21. He allegedly confessed to swallowing 110 wraps of cocaine weighing 1.901 kilogrammes, which he later excreted under observation.

His co-traveller, Blackborn, also tested positive during a body scan and admitted to ingesting 90 wraps. The agency said he excreted all the wraps, weighing 1.559 kilogrammes.

Other Drug Seizures Across Nigeria

The NDLEA also reported several arrests and drug seizures in different parts of the country. In Lagos, operatives recovered 976 kilogrammes of cannabis from two commercial buses.

In Oyo State, two men were arrested while allegedly loading 554 kilogrammes of cannabis into a truck. Meanwhile, operations in Kano led to the recovery of hundreds of thousands of suspected illicit drug tablets, including diazepam and Exol-5.

Other operations resulted in the arrest of a woman carrying 266 rounds of live AK-47 ammunition along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway and a 68-year-old man allegedly found with thousands of tablets and ampoules of controlled drugs along the Zaria-Kano Expressway.

NDLEA Warns Nigerians Abroad

The NDLEA Chairman, Brigadier-General Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), warned Nigerians living overseas against using their foreign residence as cover for drug trafficking.

He commended officers involved in the operations and urged them to remain vigilant at the country's entry and exit points while strengthening public awareness campaigns under the War Against Drug Abuse initiative.

The agency reiterated its commitment to tackling drug trafficking and preventing the movement of illicit substances across Nigeria's borders.
