Afrobeats star Davido has expressed confidence that a joint tour with fellow Nigerian singer Wizkid would attract massive audiences worldwide, saying he would charge $500,000 per show for the proposed collaboration.
Davido made the remarks during an appearance on the IONWANNATALK show, where he discussed the possibility of recording music and embarking on a tour with Wizkid.
Davido Confident About Joint Tour
While expressing uncertainty about whether a joint song with Wizkid would become a hit, Davido said he was more certain about the commercial prospects of a tour featuring both artistes.
He referenced the collaboration between D'banj and 2Baba, noting that their joint record did not achieve the level of success he expected.
However, he maintained that a tour with Wizkid would draw large crowds, saying he would demand $500,000 for every performance because he believes the venues would sell out.
Explains Why They Have Not Collaborated
The singer disclosed that he and Wizkid had not recorded a song together in about 10 years, clarifying that their lack of collaboration was not because they were incapable of working together.
According to Davido, they had simply not been in the same mental space to make music together. He also acknowledged differing opinions about whether their rivalry had contributed to their individual success or whether a joint project could further boost their careers.
Davido further spoke about moving beyond past disagreements, describing the ability to acknowledge changing feelings as a sign of maturity.
His comments have renewed attention on the possibility of a musical collaboration between two of Afrobeats' biggest stars, although neither a joint song nor a tour was announced during the interview.
