Carrick Says He Does Not Need Assurances Over Manchester United Future

Manchester United manager Michael Carrick has insisted that he does not need assurances from the club’s leadership about his future, despite growing scrutiny following the team’s poor run of results.

Carrick made the remarks during a press conference ahead of Manchester United’s Premier League visit to Chelsea on Saturday, according to Sky Sports News.

His position has come under pressure following United’s 3-0 defeat to Bournemouth on Sunday, a result that extended the club’s worst-ever start to a Premier League season.

Club Officials Discuss Next Steps

Sky Sports News reported that Manchester United chief executive Omar Berrada and director of football Jason Wilcox met at the club’s Carrington training ground during the week to discuss the team’s next steps.

However, Carrick maintained that he remained focused on his responsibilities and was not seeking guarantees about his position.

“I don’t need assurances from anyone. I totally get the position, I get the job, the responsibility, I get what comes with that. I really don’t need any assurances from anyone in that regard,” he said.

Carrick Focuses on Chelsea Clash

The manager said his priority was preparing the team for the Chelsea fixture, adding that he paid little attention to media discussions about his future.

He explained that his main concern was the supporters and what they experienced while watching the team play, both at Old Trafford and away from home.

Carrick also said he understood the demands of the job and was determined to improve the team’s performances.

When asked whether he was surprised to remain in charge amid questions about his position, he replied that he was simply focused on doing his job and making things better for the team.

Sky Sports News reported that Carrick would remain in charge for Saturday’s Premier League trip to Chelsea, as Manchester United look to respond to their recent disappointing results.
