Borno Woman Jailed for Two Years Over Sexual Exploitation of Teenager

A Borno State High Court in Maiduguri has sentenced 37-year-old Fatima Sanda to two years’ imprisonment for procuring a 16-year-old girl for sexual exploitation.

The conviction was secured by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP). The court also ordered Sanda to pay ₦500,000 in compensation to the victim.

According to NAPTIP, the offence contravened Section 16(1) of the Trafficking in Persons (Prohibition) Enforcement and Administration Act, 2015, as amended.

The case highlights the role of law enforcement agencies and the courts in addressing the exploitation of children and protecting vulnerable people. NAPTIP continues to pursue cases involving trafficking and related offences across Nigeria.
