Blaqbonez Says Successful People May Not Want to Retire in Nigeria

Nigerian rapper Blaqbonez has questioned whether successful people would want to spend their retirement in Nigeria, describing the country as challenging despite considering it home.

The rapper, whose real name is Emeka Akumefule, made the remarks during an appearance on The Zeze Millz Show, where he reflected on his experiences travelling abroad and the country's development challenges.

Blaqbonez Speaks on Life in Nigeria

According to the rapper, travelling to other countries has made him more aware of the gap between Nigeria and where he believes it should be in terms of development.

“Nigeria is hectic, but it is still home. When you go to other countries, you will realise how far we are from where we should be,” he said.

Speaking about retirement, Blaqbonez said he found it difficult to imagine many successful people choosing to remain in Nigeria after leaving active work, although he acknowledged that some might prefer to do so.

Rapper Shares Retirement Dream

Blaqbonez also revealed that his personal retirement dream involves living on a large ranch and raising animals.

He said this lifestyle was not one he readily associated with Nigeria, highlighting his concerns about the country's suitability for the kind of retirement he envisions.

His comments have drawn attention to broader conversations about living conditions, development and the retirement plans of Nigerians who aspire to build successful careers.
