The All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of Nigeria’s 2027 general elections, with party leaders pledging to build support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid.
The inauguration took place at the State House Conference Centre in Abuja and attracted prominent political figures, including Vice President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio and House of Representatives Speaker Tajudeen Abbas. Some politicians from other parties, including Anambra State Governor Charles Soludo, FCT Minister Nyesom Wike and Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke, also expressed support for Tinubu.
Tinubu urged the campaign team to focus on communicating his administration’s achievements while acknowledging the challenges facing Nigerians. He said he would continue governing rather than joining the campaign team on every nationwide tour.
APC leaders highlighted investments in infrastructure, power, transport, agriculture and digital connectivity. However, opposition figures criticised the administration, citing economic hardship and insecurity, and questioned whether the campaign could overcome public dissatisfaction.
The inauguration marks an early step in the political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 election, with both the ruling party and opposition groups preparing to make their case to voters.
