BrightSign is a hardware-first company: purpose-built players known for reliability, with cloud management sold on top. VYPΛ® is cloud-first and device-flexible — and turns the screen into a revenue source rather than a capital purchase.
BrightSign's reputation is earned. Its players are purpose-built, solid-state, and widely trusted for demanding installations — 4K and multi-screen video walls, interactive fixtures, harsh or always-on environments, and estates where a device must simply never fall over. BrightSign Author is free, and the bsn.control tier for player management costs nothing. For high-end AV integration work, BrightSign is often the right answer.
BrightSign separates hardware purchase from cloud subscription; ours bundles the software per screen.

The two products answer different questions. Here is ours.
BrightSign requires buying a player for every screen before anything appears on it. With VYPΛ® you can start on a device you already own, or a VYPΛ Android Stick at CA$49.99, and scale as the screens prove themselves.
BrightSign's cloud tier is an annual per-player cost. Ours is a monthly per-screen cost that an enrolled screen can offset by earning 70% of the net advertising revenue it delivers.
Android, Amazon Fire OS, Samsung Tizen and LG webOS are all supported. If a device fails, you can swap it for whatever is available locally rather than waiting on a specific board.
BrightSign is generally specified by AV integrators for complex installations. VYPΛ® is built to be set up by the person who runs the shop, in an afternoon, without a commissioning visit.
No platform is right for everyone. Here is our honest read.
For demanding installations, BrightSign's purpose-built players are excellent and we will not claim otherwise. For a standard indoor screen showing scheduled content in a shop, cafe or clinic, our CA$49.99 Android Stick or CA$69.99 Android Box does the job at a fraction of the cost.
No. BrightSign players run BrightSign's own operating system and are not a supported VYPΛ platform. Our supported platforms are Android, Amazon Fire OS, Samsung Tizen and LG webOS.
It depends on the player model, which varies widely by capability, plus cloud subscription if you need content management. BrightSign Author and the bsn.control tier are free; the bsn.content tier is listed at US$139 per player per year. Check BrightSign's own site for current figures before deciding.
Install on a device you already own, see it working, and decide about hardware later.
