The United States has announced a reward of up to $20 million, alongside possible relocation, for information about Iran’s nuclear programme, despite President Donald Trump’s repeated claims that the country’s nuclear facilities have been destroyed.
US Central Command announced the offer on Friday in a statement posted on X, saying the State Department’s Rewards for Justice programme was seeking information about Iran’s nuclear facilities, equipment and personnel, including members of its scientific community.
US Seeks Information on Nuclear Activities
The military urged anyone with relevant information to visit the Rewards for Justice website and submit a tip to qualify for the reward.
The announcement comes amid longstanding international concerns over Iran’s nuclear activities. In 2025, the International Atomic Energy Agency reported that Iran was enriching uranium to 60 per cent purity, a level considered close to the 90 per cent required for weapons-grade uranium.
Previous Strikes on Iranian Nuclear Sites
The United States and Israel launched strikes on Iranian nuclear facilities in June 2025, targeting key sites linked to the country’s nuclear programme.
Following the operation, Trump described the facilities as having been “completely and totally obliterated”. However, subsequent assessments indicated that the programme had been significantly degraded rather than completely eliminated.
Wider Conflict with Iran
On February 28, 2026, the United States and Israel launched a larger military campaign against Iran, saying the operation was aimed at preventing Tehran from acquiring a nuclear weapon.
The campaign led to the death of Iran’s Supreme Leader, Ali Khamenei, during its opening phase and escalated into a wider conflict after Tehran retaliated.
The war also disrupted shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and contributed to volatility in global oil markets.
