“Today in the Washington, D.C. area, Homeland Security Investigations executed a judicially authorized search warrant secured by the Department of Justice,” a DOJ spokesperson told Fox News Digital, according to the New York Post.

The spokesperson added that the action was part of an ongoing federal investigation but did not provide further details.

Investigation Reportedly Concerns Immigration Documents

The New York Post reported that the investigation concerns alleged fraud involving Omar’s immigration paperwork. However, the Justice Department has not publicly confirmed the specific focus of the investigation in its statement.

The Associated Press also reported that federal agents searched the congresswoman’s home on Monday morning, citing people familiar with the matter. The agency said the Justice Department confirmed the search but did not disclose additional information about the case.

Who Is Ilhan Omar?

Omar, 44, represents Minnesota’s 5th Congressional District, which includes Minneapolis. She was first elected to the US House of Representatives in 2018 and is known for her progressive political positions and criticism of President Donald Trump.

The search comes as federal authorities continue their investigation, although the available reports do not establish that Omar has been charged with a crime in connection with the case.

The Justice Department has not released further details about the investigation, and its outcome remains unclear.
