Troops Arrest Suspected Terrorist in Kaduna, Intensify Operations in Zamfara

Troops of the Joint Task Force North West, Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have arrested a suspected terrorist in Kaduna State while intensifying air and ground operations against armed groups in Zamfara State.

The suspect was arrested on November 5, 2026, at a hospital in Kagarko town, Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State, during an intelligence-led operation involving troops of Sector One and operatives of the Department of State Services (DSS).

Suspect Arrested While Seeking Medical Treatment

In a statement, the Acting Media Information Officer of the Joint Task Force, Captain Tamuno Sinivie, said the suspect reportedly visited the hospital for treatment of a gunshot wound sustained during an encounter with a rival faction.

Preliminary investigations allegedly linked him to attacks on communities, kidnapping and cattle rustling.

The suspect is currently in custody for further investigation and possible prosecution.

Ground Operations Target Terrorist Hideouts in Zamfara

Meanwhile, troops have intensified clearance operations in Maradun Local Government Area of Zamfara State, targeting suspected terrorist hideouts in Aljummu Hausa, Aljummu Fulani and Tunga Magaji villages.

The military said the operations had cleared several hideouts, restricted the activities of criminal groups and improved security in the affected communities.

Air Strikes Target Suspected Terrorist Locations

In a related operation on November 5, the Air Component of the Nigerian Air Force conducted air interdiction missions against suspected terrorist locations in Babban Doka and Kuyumbana Forest in Maru Local Government Area of Zamfara State.

Captain Sinivie said the operation followed intelligence reports that suspected terrorists linked to wanted kingpin Dogo Gide were gathering in the area to plan and coordinate criminal activities.

He added that troops were maintaining operational dominance across the area.

Operation FANSAN YAMMA reaffirmed its commitment to sustained operations against terrorists and other criminal groups across its area of responsibility.

The task force also urged residents to provide timely and credible information to security agencies to support efforts to tackle security threats and protect lives and property.
