Saudi Arabia Vows Response to Houthi Attacks on Airports

Saudi Arabia’s Energy Minister, Prince Abdulaziz bin Salman, has promised a serious response to attacks attributed to Yemen’s Houthi movement on the kingdom’s airports and energy facilities.

Speaking at the WPC Energy Congress in Riyadh, the minister said recent events were serious and required an equally serious response.

Saudi authorities reported that a Pakistani man was killed in an attack on a terminal at King Khalid International Airport on Sunday. The incident followed another Houthi missile attack on a terminal the previous day, which reportedly killed 13 people and forced the facility to close.

The Houthis said their attacks were retaliation for Saudi military operations against areas under their control in western Yemen. Meanwhile, the Houthi-run health ministry reported that a child was killed and six people injured in a Saudi airstrike on a home in Sanaa.

The latest violence comes amid Yemen’s prolonged civil war, which began in 2014 and escalated the following year when a Saudi-led coalition intervened in support of the internationally recognised government.

Renewed attacks and military operations have raised concerns about further escalation, with potential implications for regional security and energy markets.
