Remi Tinubu Says Nigerians Who Don’t See Progress Need ‘Tinubu Eyeglasses’

First Lady Oluremi Tinubu has suggested that Nigerians who fail to recognise progress under President Bola Tinubu’s administration may need what she described as “Bola Tinubu eyeglasses.”

She made the remark on Friday while inaugurating the Abuja headquarters of the PBAT Door-to-Door Movement, a grassroots group mobilising support for the president’s re-election bid in 2027.

“Things Are Happening in Nigeria”

“So things are happening in Nigeria, except, you know, those who don’t see; maybe we’ll give them some, you know, Bola Tinubu eyeglasses. We are doing that, JigiBola,” she said.

She Points to Airport Improvements

Mrs Tinubu cited changes at Nigerian airports as an example of progress, saying she hoped to travel more conveniently and spend less time getting through the airport.

She also expressed hope that when she leaves the Presidential Villa in 2031, Nigeria would be a country she could enjoy living in during her 70s.

“I want to leave Aso Rock, in 2031, by the grace of God, and enter a Nigeria that me as a 70-something-year-old woman will enjoy,” she said.

Support for Tinubu’s 2027 Re-election Bid

The First Lady formally commissioned the movement’s Abuja headquarters and expressed support for her husband’s bid for a second term in office.

The event forms part of political mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general election, as supporters of the ruling All Progressives Congress prepare for the next electoral contest.

The Bigger Picture

The First Lady’s comments have placed the administration’s claims of national progress back in the spotlight as political conversations intensify ahead of 2027.
