Rema Explains Why He Avoids Flaunting His Wealth Online

Nigerian Afrobeats singer Divine Ikubor, popularly known as Rema, has explained why he avoids excessively flaunting his wealth and achievements on social media, saying he does not want to put pressure on young people who look up to him.

The 26-year-old singer disclosed this during an interview with Jam FM, noting that many young people admire his success and aspire to achieve similar heights in their own lives.

Rema Says Everyone Has Their Time

Rema explained that he is mindful of his influence and does not want young fans to feel inadequate or rush their personal journeys because of what they see online.

“Everybody has their time but some people just want to rush it because they see their fellow young person doing well,” he said, adding that he remains concerned about young people who may feel pressured by comparisons.

The singer also noted that pressure can come from parents who compare their children with others or push them to pursue careers they do not genuinely want.

He said he prefers to keep his lifestyle simple to avoid creating unrealistic expectations for those who admire him.

Preference for a Simple Lifestyle

Rema said his fashion choices reflect his preference for simplicity, explaining that he enjoys streetwear and does not frequently wear designer labels.

According to the singer, the more extravagant items he typically wears are his chains and watches.

His comments highlight his concern about the effects of social comparison on young people and his desire for them to focus on their own goals rather than measure their progress against his success.
