Premier League managers have delivered key team updates ahead of the weekend fixtures, with Manchester United and Chelsea among the clubs addressing major talking points during Friday’s news conferences.
Manchester United manager Michael Carrick said the club had moved on from comments made by defender Lisandro Martínez, who criticised the club’s hierarchy. Carrick confirmed that Martínez would be included in the squad for the upcoming match against Leeds United.
Carrick also defended his assessment of the team’s current condition, insisting that the squad was in a fantastic place and performing better than he had seen it for some time.
At Chelsea, manager Xabi Alonso expressed disappointment after Reece James suffered a knee injury that could keep the defender out for three months. James’ absence would be a significant concern for the club as it prepares for its upcoming fixtures.
Other managers, including Mikel Arteta, Oliver Glasner and Enzo Maresca, also addressed the media as clubs provided updates on player availability, preparations and expectations for the weekend.
Meanwhile, Fulham manager Alvaro Arbeloa insisted that the situation was not about him as questions emerged over his future at the club. His comments added to the growing list of talking points ahead of another busy round of Premier League action.
