Super Falcons interim head coach Augustine Eguavoen believes Nigeria deserved victory after the team defeated Comoros 2–0 in the first leg of their second qualifying-round fixture for the 2028 Olympic Games.
The 10-time African champions secured the win on Friday, with Michelle Alozie and Uchenna Kanu scoring in the second half after a goalless opening period.
Eguavoen admitted he was nervous at half-time, particularly because the match was being played away from home. He said Nigeria respected their opponents but expected more from a team with the Super Falcons’ experience and quality.
The victory gives Nigeria an advantage ahead of the return leg, scheduled for next Tuesday at Remo Stars Stadium in Ikenne.
