Former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has taken up a new role at the University of Oxford in England, joining its Blavatnik School of Government as a Distinguished Fellow and member of the World Leaders Circle.
The university announced the appointment on Friday, describing the World Leaders Circle as an international network of former heads of government whose experience and insights contribute to efforts to improve governance around the world.
Trudeau to Engage with Future Leaders
Trudeau, who served as Canada's prime minister for 10 years before stepping down in 2025, said the world had experienced significant geopolitical and technological changes during his time in office.
In a statement released by Oxford University, he said governments faced growing challenges that required thoughtful leadership, international cooperation and renewed commitment to public trust in democratic institutions.
He added that he looked forward to sharing his experience, exchanging ideas with other leaders and engaging with the next generation of government and policy leaders.
Joins Former World Leaders at Oxford
Other members of the World Leaders Circle include former New Zealand Prime Minister Jacinda Ardern and former United Kingdom Prime Minister Rishi Sunak.
According to the university, members of the network are expected to mentor students and alumni, bring together global leaders and explore innovative approaches to governance.
The Blavatnik School of Government is part of the University of Oxford, widely recognised as the oldest university in the English-speaking world.
Trudeau Launches Production Company
The Oxford appointment comes after Trudeau launched a production company called Hope & Hard Work in September with his former chief of staff, Katie Telford.
The company said it would produce both scripted and unscripted content, marking another development in Trudeau's activities since leaving office.
