Iran’s Supreme Leader Warns US, Israel Against Resuming Military Strikes

Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has warned the United States and Israel against resuming military attacks on Iran, saying the country’s armed forces and citizens would determine the timing and conditions for ending any renewed confrontation.

The warning was contained in a written statement attributed to Khamenei and published on his official website on Saturday, October 31, 2026, amid growing concerns over a possible return to hostilities.

Khamenei Issues Warning to Military Commanders

The statement followed a reported meeting between Khamenei and senior Iranian military commanders, including Armed Forces Chief of Staff Ali Abdollahi, Army Chief Amir Hatami and Revolutionary Guards Commander Ahmad Vahidi. It was reportedly their first meeting.

Khamenei directed the commanders to ensure that any threat against Iran would receive an immediate and effective response, regardless of its nature or geographical location.

He also reportedly ordered an update of Iran’s target list to include what the statement described as all tangible and intangible assets belonging to the United States and Israel.

Tensions Persist After February War

The conflict began on February 28, when the United States and Israel launched strikes against Iran. Tehran responded with attacks on targets in countries across the region, escalating tensions throughout the Middle East.

Khamenei has not appeared publicly since becoming Iran’s supreme leader following the death of his father, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, in the opening US-Israeli strikes.

Diplomatic Efforts Continue

The warning came as diplomatic efforts continued to prevent a renewed military confrontation. A Qatari delegation arrived in Tehran on Friday for discussions with Iranian officials.

The visit followed reports that Iran had received a letter from US Vice President JD Vance. Iranian media reported that Tehran had yet to respond to the communication.

With military threats and diplomatic engagements unfolding simultaneously, the possibility of renewed hostilities remains a major concern for the region.
