Minister of Education, Tunji Alausa, has defended President Bola Tinubu’s academic credentials, urging Nigerians to disregard criticism from opposition figures questioning his educational background.
Alausa spoke during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, where he claimed that Tinubu attended Chicago State University in the United States and graduated with first-class honours in Accounting.
“This president is also the first internationally exposed president, a president that studied in America, that had first class in Accounting,” the minister said.
He described the criticism surrounding Tinubu’s academic history as unfounded, insisting that he had personal knowledge of the university and had visited it several times.
“I know the university — Chicago State University. Forget the nonsense the opposition is peddling. I’m telling you hardcore facts,” Alausa said.
Minister Claims to Have Met Tinubu’s Classmates
When asked whether he had met people who studied alongside the President at the institution, Alausa said he had interacted with several of Tinubu’s former classmates in person.
He also praised the President’s intellectual ability, describing him as a genius.
“He is a genius. Let’s not talk about the capability of this president alone. President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is literally a genius,” he said.
Alausa further claimed that Tinubu had transformed Nigeria from what he described as a moribund country into one experiencing growth within three years of his administration.
The minister’s comments come amid renewed public debate over Tinubu’s academic records and qualifications, with opposition figures continuing to raise questions about his educational background.
