Canada and the United Arab Emirates are preparing to share details of a strategic partnership as both countries seek to strengthen economic ties and expand cooperation across key industries.
The announcement follows meetings in Ottawa between Canadian Prime Minister Mark Carney and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
Trade and Investment Opportunities
The two countries concluded negotiations on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement in July 2026. The agreement is intended to support trade and create additional opportunities for businesses in both markets.
The UAE has also committed approximately $70 billion in investment to Canada, signalling interest in expanding economic engagement.
Expanding Cooperation
The broader partnership is expected to cover areas including energy, critical minerals, infrastructure, defence and security, artificial intelligence and advanced technologies.
Further details will clarify how the countries intend to translate their agreements into investment, business opportunities and long-term cooperation.
