Alex Iwobi Backs Fulham to Revive Premier League Campaign After First Win

Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi believes Fulham can use their first Premier League victory of the season as a springboard to improve their campaign after a difficult start.

Iwobi scored the decisive goal in Fulham’s 1-0 victory over Hull City at Craven Cottage on Saturday, ending the club’s six-game winless run in the league.

Speaking to Fulham TV after the match, the Nigerian international said the team had performed well despite disappointing results and urged his teammates to build on the victory.

Iwobi Delivers the Winning Goal

The 30-year-old found the net in the 33rd minute after Hull failed to clear the ball. Sander Berge set him up on the edge of the penalty area, and Iwobi’s low shot took a deflection before slipping beneath goalkeeper Konstantinos Tzolakis.

The goal was Iwobi’s first in the league this season, taking his Premier League tally to 36 goals in 327 appearances. He moved level with former Nigerian international Peter Odemwingie on the competition’s all-time scoring list for Nigerian players.

Fulham Target Improved Results

Iwobi said manager Alvaro Arbeloa had encouraged the players to remain focused despite their poor run of results, expressing hope that the victory would help the team regain momentum for the rest of the season.

Fulham had struggled to convert their performances into wins and entered the match with five points. The victory offered a timely boost as they seek to climb away from the bottom of the Premier League table.

Iwobi’s performance also attracted praise from former Liverpool midfielder Steve McManaman and former Tottenham manager Tim Sherwood.
